Diet

Diet plays an important role in your health and is closely linked to many chronic conditions. That’s why a healthy diet is key to living a healthy life.

  • Eat a balanced, healthy diet made up of lots of different coloured vegetables and fruit.
  • Eat less meat and chicken, and more lentils and beans. They are cheaper and better for you.
  • Eat foods with fibre like oats or brown rice, rather than white bread or white rice.
  • Eat only a little salt, sugar and oil.
  • Avoid take-away food and rather cook your own fresh food.
  • Drink a lot of water.

Exercise for 30 minutes at least three times a week. If your work is physically active, do stretch exercises.

You don’t have to join a gym, you can:

  • Dance at home to your favourite music.
  • Form an exercise club with friends or people who have the same condition as you.
  • Go walking or jogging together. This is also a good time to talk about things that are worrying you.
