Healthy habits during the COVID-19 pandemic
Protecting ourselves from the COVID-19 pandemic requires us to make several lifestyle changes in order to stay healthy. You can reduce your chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19 by taking five simple steps:

Wash your hands: Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly using soap and water. If you aren’t able to wash your hands with soap and water, you can clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand-sanitiser. Washing your hands kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Keep your distance: Maintain at least one metre’s distance between yourself and others when out in public. The virus is spread through droplets of liquid released when someone coughs, sneezes, or speaks. If you are too close to another person, you can breathe in or spread droplets that may contain the Coronavirus.

Avoid going to crowded places: Where people are gathered in numbers, it is more difficult to maintain a social (physical) distance of at least one metre, and you are more likely to come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth: You touch many surfaces during the day and if you pick up the virus from an infected surface, it can then be transferred to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and infect you.

Cover your mouth or nose when you cough or sneeze: If you cough or sneeze, be sure to cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow, or use a tissue. Then immediately throw the tissue away and wash your hands.
